The well-being and safety of our employees and our patients are always our top priority, and we continue to closely monitor updates and follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) as we navigate the rapidly changing environment of our nation and world due to the Coronavirus COVID-19.
Due to the pandemic, we are taking extra precautions to limit exposure to our patients and our team members.
Effective April 6th, Mitchell Family Medicine will be converting ALL appointments with Dr. Mitchell to Telemedicine. Our clinic is STILL OPEN and available to see all walk-in patients and lab-only patients, from 7am-5pm. Dr. Mitchell will be available at the office for emergency care and hospital follow-up appointments, but all routine appointments will be converted to Telemedicine. This is for your safety to limit COVID19 exposure as most routine appointments can be handled over the phone. If during the telemedicine appointment Dr. Mitchell sees that you should come in to be examined, we will practice extreme caution in limiting your exposure. Please stay in your car, call to check-in with our front desk, and remain in your car until we call you for an available room. Please understand that availability for “rescheduling” for a later date in May, June, and July is VERY limited, as almost all appointment slots are already filled.
There are several ways to communicate via Telemedicine:
1. iPhone - via Facetime. This is the #1 method and the easiest. When we communicate with you ahead of your appointment, just let us know you have an iPhone, and we will Facetime with you at your scheduled appointment time.
2. Zoom - all you need an an email for this one. Make sure to download the Zoom app on your computer or smart phone. We will send you an email to connect with us via video-chat on zoom at your scheduled appointment time.
3. Facebook Messenger - we will log onto our Facebook business page and you will log into your Facebook page at the scheduled appointment time. Please “like” us on the Mitchell Family Medicine page - this will make it much easier for us to identify you for your appointment.
4. Kareo Platform - This has been the least preferred method, but is an option. Contact us if none of the above options work for you.
We know that some of our patients are not “technology savy,” and do not have a smart phone or computer. We encourage you to use a family member’s device (but make sure you clean all devices and still practice social distancing). REMEMBER, we must use caution and be flexible to be able to meet the needs of our patients. We would never want to potentially harm you by exposing you to COVID19. Your BEST option at this point for refills and routine care is to do Telemedicine.
We have an additional supply of COVID19 swabs in stock now, but it is very limited. Patients must call the office before coming in and await further instruction on how to get screened as we want to keep our patients and staff safe. Only the most severe cases of symptoms are being considered for testing at this time.
We appreciate your understanding during this crisis. We have had an outpouring of support and love from the community, and we truly are grateful to each of you. There is a lot of uncertainty in our country, but we encourage you to seek God diligently and pray for His mercy to be extended during this crisis. He is the great and ultimate physician, and truly the only one who can heal the world. Stay well and God bless you.
